She Can Do It Too

“I don’t know why you wanna do this,
But RIP to your music” – Lady Leshurr

Have you noticed how most Hip-Hop artists who are globally famous are male? Guarantee if you randomly ask someone to list the top 5 rappers, they will be male. You might have to ask for their top 10 or even top 15 for them to list female artists.

Some people believe that it’s because the guys look after each other. Help each other out and put each other on their tracks. I guess it has some truth to it because how many female collaborations are there? There are a few, but the scale still slides to the men. And you are just likely to hear that 2 women in the business are dissing each other than collaborating. IE Cardi B. Back in the day the excuse used to be that “women can’t rap”. Boy were they proved wrong. Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, Trina, so many women with stories to tell, hip-hop stories. And I don’t buy into this whole theory of men spit better than women. Lady Leshurr and her track R.I.P. is insane! First time I heard it was in February on one of those random occasions when MTV is playing in the background while I was in the kitchen. The lady had me frozen,.. watching,.. repeatedly uttering to myself ‘WHAT?!’ with excitement. ‘Girl is dope’ I remember thinking to myself. Then I go and read that the track was a freestyle and was recorded, shot, edited, and released within 24 hours. So you can’t tell me that women ain’t talented cause lady don’ killed it!

“They won’t find nobody badder
So now they like ‘mmmxxxxmmm’ me can’t stand ha” – Lady Leshurr

Could it be that women aren’t as noticed simply because there is more ‘hate’ thrown their way? And another one of my favorites from her;

“I heard your new tune,
I just paused it,
PDE5 prevents erection cheap cialis brand in males and leads to impotency. It will provide you the ideal size http://appalachianmagazine.com/author/AppalachianMagazine/page/24/ viagra ordination and energy. It may be beyond his ability or physical viagra super active capability. generic viagra australia Meaning, most of what DHT carry out, an individual can do without. Eject it and fling it weh!”

She vocalized my feelings when I hear new hip-hop these days.

Eva Alordiah. Where to start?.. She is talented, thoughtful, and real. I’ve watched a number of her freestyles and yea, she can do it too. Most of her songs are more of an R&B flow but the is the track that made me officially recognize her as a rapper on top of everything else is ‘Queen Kong’, a collabo she did with Pryse, and they really bring it. Quick flow backed with heavy punch lines, Queen Kong had me.

So it’s not like the talent is not there? On the contrary, there is an abundance. Just the other day I saw a video on Facebook of Kyah Baby:

“These new rappers is bogus
They belong in the circus”

A 3 minute and 21 second segment on Funk Master Flex’s station. Non-stop. Flow for flow, blow for blow. In my opinion her on the spot flow is better than 90% of what has been going on in the world of Rap. But when you look at the scales of popularity, she isn’t even mentioned. The sad reality is that we have created a world where talent isn’t what gets you noticed any more. After her airplay the www.inependentdope.com quoted ‘Bye Bye Cardi B, Sorry Remy Ma, Peace Nicki Minaj! This new York chick just stole the crown!’. She is that good but nope… it’s the same recycled, I don’t have a story, flows don’t make sense, ain’t even really speaking English, non-sense that will get promoted.

Oh… but wait,.. her sign off:

“Look, Flex, it’s about time that you acknowledge
That this is what the city sound like when you take out the garbage”
